Advani readies cadre to take on Congess in next election

New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) Rapping the UPA government for its failure to check price rise which has hit the common man, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani today called upon the party cadre to work hard with greater determination to oust this government and establish a BJP-led coalition government in the next Lok Sabha election.

Speaking at the Sthapana Divas (foundation day) of the BJP which had come into being 28 years ago after it severed ties with the Janata Party in 1980, Mr Advani reminded the rank and file that they should take the coming election as a challenge and expose the UPA government's failure on all fronts, including price rise, internal security and the welfare of the common man.

The common people are today fondly recalling the Vajpayee government's success in keeping prices under check. Indeed, the people are also seeing the contrast between the NDA government and the UPA government in every other aspect of governance. The UPA government's failure to contain prices reminds them that, historically, whenever the Congress has come to power at the Centre, price rise, corruption and mal-governance have also come along, he said.

The BJP's prime ministerial candidate cautioned the Congress that the people were angry with their rule. There are several reasons for their anger. Your failure to contain prise rise will make you pay a heavy price whenever elections are held, refering to skyrocketing prices of all essential commodities including foodgrains, edible oil, sugar, milk, vegetables, fruits, electricity and transportation.

Similarly the cost of college and professional education is shooting up and due to this quality education and good jobs has become out of reach of the youth belonging to poor and middle classes. The scenario on health sector is no different, he added.

Refering to spate of suicides by the farmers, he said the Congress had failed to keep its promise and its loan waivers policy did not apply to those who had taken loans from the money lenders.

''As we celebrate our party's Sthapana Divas today on Varsha Pratipada, which, as i said, is a good day to start a new venture, I am confident that the BJP will be victorious in the year ahead,'' he told the gathering at the party's headquarters.

Earlier, party president Rajnath Singh launched a website on Mr Advani's book 'My Country My life' on the occasion.

Addressing the partymen, he recalled Mr Advani's contribution to the party's growth and national politics and said he never compromised with ethics and moral values. "His life itself is an open book. The example of his strict adherence to the values is, When his name was mentioned in the Hawala case, he vowed that he would never step into Parliament until he was exonerated in the false cases foisted against him," he said.

The BJP President lashed out at the Left parties for extending support to the UPA government at the Center which had failed on all fronts.

He said the Left parties were involved in this disastrous activity on the pretext of keeping communal forces away from power.

The nation is well aware about the credentials of each party. The people know well about the psuedo secular forces in the country, he said.

He reiterated that the BJP did not believe in appeasement policy. The BJP's policy is 'Justice to all and appeasement to none', he added.

Mr Singh defended the NDA's decision on the Kandhar episode, saying the Congress was raking up the issue just to divert attention of the people from its failures.

It was Congress party which had offered a dharna in front of the Prime Minister's office demanding release of hostages at any cost.

''It was a forced decision and forced decisions cannot be measured with the yardstick of ethics. We have taken this decision in pain not for any vote bank politics,'' he said.
