Accused sent to 10-days police remand

Agartala, Apr 06: A person, accused of killing a senior CPI (M) leader, to ten days of police remand in Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat in North Tripura.

The Kamalpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate has sent Amit Deb to the police remand for killing Tapan Roy (38) on April four. The state administration has clamped Sec 144 in entire area in wake of the incident.

Meanwhile, both the ruling CPI (M) and Congress have condemned the killing. However the CPI(M) has accused Congress behind the incident.

Mr Roy was attacked by the accused in front of his Kamalpur residence.

Police suspect that the incident was folllowing an inner squabble among the party workers following the defeat of sitting minister Bijoy Laxmi Sinha in recently concluded Assembly polls.

ARC to report on conflict management in NE

Agartala, Jul 27: The second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), constituted by UPA government, has asserted to submit a separate charter of recommendations on conflict management and insurgency in Northeast. Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, ARC chairman Veerappa Moily said besides, transparency and pro-people administration, the NE states needed a separate administrative strategy to combat insurgency. ''ARC has realised the need to decentralise power to autonomous bodies for the region's betterment,'' Mr Moily, also.....
