Remove disparity in sixth pay commission: IPS Assn

Bangalore, Apr 5 (UNI) The Karnataka chapter of the Indian Police Service Association has appealed for removal of discrepancies in the sixth pay commission recommendations submitted to the Centre recently.

Office-bearers and members of the Association, who met Governor Rameshwar Thakur today apprised him of the adverse effect of pay commission recommendations it would have on Indian Law Enforcement Agencies in general and the Indian Police Service in particular, according to a release here.

If the pay commission recommendations were implemented, it would have a cascading effect on the morale, motivation and prestige of the IPS and its members, the association pointed out and sought intervention at the highest level to rectify the anomalies.

Considering the risk faced in the service, IPS should have been given more importance than IAS, the association members said adding that the risk attached to the job of IPS officers had not been considered as a factor in determining the pay scales of IPS officers.

The fact that more than 30 IPS officers, since Independence, have made the supreme sacrifice while fighting to protect the unity and integrity of the country, the sixth pay commission had failed to appreciate and take into accounts these facts in its recommendations, the members said.
