Overnight rain, thundershowers maintain cool air in city

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The breezy weather being experienced by Delhiites since the beginning of this week continued today with overnight rain and thundershowers maintaining a coolness in the city air, plummeting the mercury by several degrees.

For the second day in succession, Delhi recieved overnight rain, paving the way for another cool day in the city.

Accompanied by thundershowers, the rain, which followed a heavy downpour last evening, brought down the maximum temperature, from 30 degrees Celsius yesterday, to 28.6 Degree C, five degrees below normal.

The minimum also fell, from 19 Degree C yesterday, to 17 Degree C, one degree below normal.

With the overnight rain, the capital recorded a total rainfall of 22 mm till 0830 hours in the Safdarjung area while 6.8 mm rainfall was recorded in the Palam region till 0830 hours.

The coolness in the air is likely to persist over the next 24 hours with weathermen forecast thundry development in Delhi during the next 24 hours.

''Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places over Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi during the next 24 hours. Isolated thundersquall or hailstorm is also likely over the above regions during the next 24 hrs,'' the met office said.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with a likelihood of thundry development in some areas.

They have also forecast a maximum temperature of 31 Degree Celsius tomorrow.

After the unusual heat experienced in Delhi, this week witnessed a cooling in the air due to rains and thundershowers induced by a fresh Western disturbance.

3 Pakistani soldiers, 5 Baloch nationalists killed

Peshawar, Apr 5 : At least three Pakistani soldiers and five Baloch nationalists were killed on Saturday in a gunfight in Balochistan province. The shootout took place near Dalbandin town as the security forces raided a house after getting a tip-off.
