The resolution also urged the Centre to expedite implementation of the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP).

Referring to the Hogenakkal drinking water supply project, Professor Mohideen urged the Karnataka Government to look into the scheme on humanitarian grounds and not to politicise the issue.

He also urged the Centre to ensure that the project was implemented as scheduled.

The IUML leader said 60th anniversary of the party's state unit would be held at Chennai on June 14. The party National president Banatwala and Mr Karunanidhi, among others were expected to attend the Conference, he added.
