E-TV scribes attacked by JD(S) activists

Mysore, Apr 5: Three reporters and a cameraman of E-TV were attacked allegedly by JD(S) activists here today.

Police said the incident occurred when the reporters and the cameraman went to cover a story on a tip off that a JD(S) leader was distributing sarees to the people.

When they reached the spot, a few supporters of the leader assaulted them and damaged the camera.

As the news spread, the journalists led by Mysore district journalists association president K Shivakumar staged a protest in front of the JD(S) leader's house and urged the police and district administration to take action against the JD(S) workers, who assaulted the mediapersons.

The association representatives, who met Deputy Commissioner Manivannan, sought security for journalists during the Assembly elections in May.
