Dhanbad, Apr 5 : A Madrasa in Jharkhand imparts education to more than 300 Muslim girls from across the globe.

The Madrasa 'Jamia Ulme Salma' was set up in 2001 in a bid to educate Muslim girls. It also provides free of cost education to poor students and also funds the marriage of girls belonging to poor families.

Students feel secure in the atmosphere and are happy with the education system of the Madrasa.

"The atmosphere in colleges is not that good, but here in this Madrasa we are safe. We are getting proper education, " Rahat Zahan, a student from Bangladesh.

The administration imparts Urdu and Arabia teachings to students and feels that it is very important to keep the cultural values intact while imparting scientific and modern teachings.

"Today, European culture has influenced our Indian culture, but not in a positive way and we don't want that. We teach the students how to learn new things by taking along the Indian cultural values that exists here from the past. But at the same time, we also try to incorporate the good part of European culture like technology and science," said Aftab Lam Naqvi, an administrator.

As the number of students is increasing in the Madrasa, the administration does not have adequate facilities and seeks more support from the government in their mission.

The Madrasa is looked after by the government, but we still do not have basic facilities. There are problems related to water and electricity.

"We have hostels and there are lot of girl students from different areas whom we are teaching, but the government hasn't paid proper attention," said Rhukshana, a headmistress.
