Decomposed body of woman found, 4 held

Kendrapada, Apr 5: Talachua police has retrieved a decomposed body of a woman from the Vekata forest, inside Bhitarkanika National Park and arrested four persons in this connection.

Sources said that some locals of the far-flung Rangani village saw the decomposed body, hanging from a jagula tree in the forest.

They informed the local police, who rushed to the spot to retrieve the body and sent it for autopsy.

The body has been identified as that of Kamala Parida, who was missing since the past 10 days. Her father had lodged an FIR against her in-laws, alleging them involved in Kamala's death.

Later, the police arrested Kamala's husband Srikrushan Mahata, his father Ananda Mahata, mother Charulata and brother Bharat Mahata. Incidentally, a case had also registered three years back in the Talachua police station against Srikrushan Mahata on charges of killing his first wife after only a year of their marriage.

All the four accused were produced before the JMFC court at Pattamundai today and later remanded to jail custody.
