BYAWC calls lawyers to Patna on April 7

Patna, Apr 5 (UNI) The Bihar Young Advocate Welfare Committee(BYAWC) today asked lawyers from all over the state to attend a meeting on April 7 in protest against hike in court fee.

Addressing a press conference here in the civil court premises, BYAWC president Omprakash Tiwari said the committee had asked lawyers of all 122 associations to assemble at the Ambedkar chowk on the said date.

Meanwhile, the general body meeting of District Bar Association (DBA) has welcomed the the state government's initiative to form a six-member ministerial committee to look into the matter.

It also demanded to stay the execution of the new fee structure and decided to continue their ongoing strike till their demands were met.

Lawyers of DBA, Patna, were on an indefinite strike since March 14 against the hike in court fee.

The lawyers of other district courts and High court had also joined the indefinite strike following which the judicial services remained paralysed all over the state.

Akalis seek lifting ban on wheat purchase by private trades

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Punjab's Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today criticised the Centre for imposing a ban on purchase of wheat by private traders from farmers in the state describing it as an old 'unfair practice'.
