Biman bats for Tripura CM before industry

Agartala, April 5: Biman Bose, the Left Front Chairman and Secretary of the CPM West Bengal, came out to bat for the comrade Manik Sarkar, the re-elected CPM chief minister of Tripura, before a gathering of industrialists on Friday.

Bose told members of the Merchants Chamber of Commerce that Tripura is “very investor friendly."
The MCC was hosting a ceremony to felicitate Sarkar.

Tripura is well ahead of West Bengal in several aspects. Tripura has reached literacy levels of 83 per cent, while West Bengal is touching 75per cent," Bose said, adding that Sarkar"s government has blend human development parameters with economic performance

Bose and Sarkar were just back from the Coimbatore congress of the CPM, where the West Bengal CPM unit had been criticised for its poor record in the social sector including literacy, drinking water and implementation of NREGA.

Agartala, Feb 22: Director General (works) of CPWD Amarnath Chakraborty has directed the concerned agencies, involved in the works for erection of barbed wire fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh border with Tripura, to complete the work on time.Mr Chakraborty, who is also the chairman of the Technical Committee of Indo-Bangla Border fencing and road, inspected the ongoing work in different areas of the state on Sunday and also directed the agencies to construct the fencing as per design, according to an official.....

Tripura: B'desh offers Multi-Protocol; Sherpur port

Agartala, May 16: With consistent efforts by Indian authorities, Bangladesh has finally agreed to offer Multi-Protocol status to Sherpur river port for carrying goods by water-way from other parts of India to Tripura via Kolkata.
