Madhya Pradesh: 12 SIMI associates arrested

Narsinghpur(MP), Apr 5: In the ongoing drive against banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), 12 SIMI associates were arrested from a village in Madhya Pradesh's Narsinghpur district yesterday.

All those arrested under section 109 IPC were today remanded to judicial custody, police said, adding they were residents of other districts. They were arrested from Rakai village under Kareli police station area while searching for SIMI activist Mohammad Irfan, who was absconding. Police said Irfan, who was let off on bail from High Court after his detention in 2000, was residing in Rakai village for a long time.

On a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau, Madhya Pradesh police arrested several SIMI activists from Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur and other areas of the state.
