Tiruchirapalli, Apr 4: Public Sector BHEL, Tiruchirapalli, and the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) will jointly set up a power plant at Udankudi in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, BHEL Executive Director R N Mishra today said.
Talking to newspersons here, he said an MOU was signed in January last between the BHEL and TNEB and the Joint Venture (JV) formation was expected to be completed by the end of this month. He said that under the JV, the BHEL and TNEB would contribute 26 per cent each and the rest of the 48 per cent would be met by other financial institutions.
He said the BHEL would supply 2 X 800 MW super critical boilers for the plant. The first unit would commence its commercial production within 42 months and the second unit was expected to be ready in another three months, he added.
To a question, he said they had entered the super critical league by bagging the first ever order for supply of two numbers of super critical boilers of 660 MW capacity to the NTPC for its two super thermal power stations in Bihar.
