E-panchayats project for Tripura

Agartala, Apr 3: In a bid to expand the e-governance facilities, Tripura government has taken a decision to bring all the panchayats and ADC villages integrated computerised system in current financial year.

Information Technology Minister of the state Tapan Chakraborty told UNI here today that the new project e-panchayat system would be implemented in 479 panchayats of 38 Rural Development blocks including the village councils of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), 27 Panchayat Samitis and Block Advisory Committee (BAC) at initial phase.

He asserted if the project was implemented successfully, people could get information like location of any panchayat, population, status of development schemes and audit information of a particular panchayat sitting at his/her home or elsewhere.

Panchayat staff could also contact with other panchayat employees to know their way of works and status of achievement of a particular scheme while each panchayat would get a computer with necessary accessories under the e-panchayat project, Mr Chakraborty added.

ARC to report on conflict management in NE

Agartala, Jul 27: The second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC), constituted by UPA government, has asserted to submit a separate charter of recommendations on conflict management and insurgency in Northeast. Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, ARC chairman Veerappa Moily said besides, transparency and pro-people administration, the NE states needed a separate administrative strategy to combat insurgency.
