Avail opportunity

Srinagar, Apr 1: Urging India and Pakistan to rejuvenate the peace process which is directly linked with the stability of the entire region, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said it was a golden opportunity for both the neighbours to resolve the vexed Kashmir issue.

Indian and Pakistani leadership should avail the golden opportunity to resolve the vexed Kashmir issue making it major cross-border hub which would ensure a long-term coordination of matters and interests relating to the whole state, he said. He expressed the hope that the present dispensation in Pakistan will pick up the thread from where it was left by president Pervez Musharraf. Mr Sayeed said since India's external affairs minister has already expressed his desire to visit Pakistan, it was essential for the leadership of both the countries to rejuvenate the peace process which is directly linked with the stability of the entire region.

Mr Sayeed asked Indian and Pakistani leadership to avail the golden opportunity to resolve the Kashmir issue as people want to live a peaceful life.

He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resolve that the LoC could be transformed into a 'line of peace' with a freer flow of ideas, goods, services and people should be implemented in letter and spirit.

The Centre must, without any further delay, implement the working group recommendations encompassing various intra and inter-state Confidence Building Measures including safe passage for all such youth who have shunned the path of violence and are eager to return and live peaceful lives.

He said PDP is committed to strengthen the genuine political process in the state which can facilitate the permanent solution to the vexed Kashmir issue.
