Chittorgarh peaceful but curfew continues

Jaipur, Mar 24: The indefinite curfew in Chittorgarh town of Rajasthan continued today without relaxation even as the situation is now stated to be peaceful. The curfew was clamped in the town following communal tension during Holi celebrations on Saturday. A Police spokesman told UNI that the situation in the affected areas of the town was now peaceful as no untoward incident was reported from anywhere since Saturday night.

However, no curfew relaxation has been given so far as a precautionary measure, he said. Decision on relaxation would be taken only after comprehensive assessment of the situation, he added. Incidents of stone pelting, arson and loot were reported from about 40 places on Saturday. Scores of people, including some police personnel, were injured in the violence.
