Hair auction fetch Kanakadurga temple 3.79cr

Vijayawada, Mar 18: The Kanakadurga temple here has fetched an amount of Rs 3.79 crore by auctioning hair offered by the devotees, temple sources said.

The sources told media that the hair auction, conducted one-year in advance, commencing from April one, 2008, to March 31, 2009, began yesterday and ended this morning.

Of the eight bidders, the Indian Hair Industries Private Limited, Tanuku, won the bid for Rs 3.79 crore.

During the period from April one, 2007, to March 31, 2008, the temple earned a revenue of Rs 3.6 crore through hair auction.

The amount would be utilised for carrying out various developmental works of the temple, the sources added.
