Tibet: 100 killed in clashes b/w police

Dharamshala, Mar 15: Tibetan Government-in-exile today claimed that unconfirmed reports received here stated that about 100 people had been killed in clashes between the police and the Tibetans in Lhasa where martial law has been imposed.

The government urged the United Nations (UN) to intervene and pressurise the Chinese government to end ''human rights violations'' in the country following the protests.

Meanwhile, monks, nuns and Tibetan protesters held protest march here today following violence in China.

They also held a candle light procession last evening to mark their protest against the continuous occupation of Tibet by China and mark the 49th anniversary of an uprising against Chinese rule and to press for their demand for independence ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
