Arunachal to go ahead with MoU signing: Dabi

Itanagar, Mar 13: Arunachal Pradesh government is considering inking a Memorandum of Understandings(MoUs) with various private power developers, irrespective of any party affiliation.

Spokesman Tako Dabi said this while addressing a press conference here this afternoon.

Mr Dabi's reaction came in the backdrop of news published in media on signing of five MoUs between the state government and Amar Singh of Samajwadi Party who heads Energy Development Company.

Media reports branded Mr Singh as an arch rival of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, which was intended to give the development a political shape, Mr Dabi commented, while terming it as "unfortunate".

''The state government is trying to tap the abundant power potential for more revenue generation without looking at political angle. The MoUs signed might be in the name of Energy Development Company not in the name of Amar Singh which was misinterpreted,'' he said, adding that no elected representative could do business in his name as per prevailing laws.
