40 CCTV to monitor passengers in Central Station

Bangalore, Mar 8: South Western Railway (SWR) has installed 40 Close Circuit TVs (CCTV) in the busy Central Station here to monitor continuously the movement of passengers and public, SWR General Manager Praveen Kumar said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said movement records of passengers and public, and messages on persons moving in a suspicious manner would be passed on to Railway Protection Force (RPF) sleuths for further investigation. Sniffer dogs were also being pressed into service with 480 strong RPF personnel, he said, adding that door frame detectors would also be installed soon. Mr Kumar said 12 CCTVs would be installed at Yeshwantpur station within a month.

Similar steps would also be taken in Mysore and Hubli stations also, he added.
