Jammu, Feb 27: A two-day seminar on 'Secular Character of Urdu Language', will be held at the University of Jammu from March 1.
Addressing the mediapersons here yesterday, seminar director Prof Shoaib Inayat Malik said 40 personalities across the country agreed to participate in the national-level seminar, which would discuss the secular character of the language.''Urdu language has played a vital role in the freedom struggle of Indian history and simultaneously it has produced hundreds of celebrities''' Prof Inayat said.''Though Urdu is an official language here in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it is being ignored and not getting its due share in various fields,'' he said, adding, ''in the different sessions of the seminar, papers will be presented on the secular character of the language, which will later be published in the form of a book.''
