3 members of a family killed in road mishap

Udupi, Feb 21: Three persons of a family were killed on the spot while a Four-year year old girl child sustained injuries when a motor bike on which they were riding was hit by a lorry on the National Highway 17 at Bramhavar Akashvani circle, about 15 kms from here, last evening.

Police said today that it was suspected that the cleaner of the lorry was driving the vehicle and took wrong side while crossing the circle and hit the motor bike.The victims were identified as Nadur Milk Producer Society President Savitrhi Shedti (35), her husband Karunakar Shetty (45) and his son Adarsh Shetty (15).

The injured Suhan had been admitted to a private hospital in Bramhavar.

Mangalore, June 22: Heavy rains lashing the coastal Districts of Udupi and Mangalore has badly affected traffic movement on state Highway as flood waters have entered Kalsanka in the heart of temple town. Four houses were partially damaged in Alevoor in Udupi Taluk and low lying areas in the district were inundated due to heavy rains which is lashing since last three days. According to official sources Udupi recorded 15 cms rain till 0800 hrs.....

Udupi, Jan 23: Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today demanded that the Governor Rameshwar Thakur release a white paper on the implementation of major budget proposals announced by him during JD(S)-BJP coalition government.
