Sony BMG bags music rights to Kamal's 'Dasavatharam'

Chennai, Feb 21: Global music major Sony BMG marked its entry into the ever burgeoning Tamil film music industry by acquiring the rights to the most eagerly-awaited 'Dasavatharam' featuring the versatile Kamal Hassan.

In a release here yesterday, Mr V Ravichandran of Oscar Films Pvt Ltd, which is producing the film, said '' Dasavatharam'' was getting ready for worldwide release in April 2008.

It would release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. The number of prints and publicity campaign are being worked out.

Sony BMG Managing Director Shridhar Subramaniam said ''being associated with Kamal Haasan and V Ravichandran in our very first Tamil project says a lot about the quity of Sony BMG.

''Even in the markets where our presence has not been significant till recently. Dasavatharam is a very special beginning of the things to come and it show our commitment to be a serious long term player in this market.

''Sony BMG has always redefined the way music has been marketed, and we are looking forward to setting new standards here as well.'' 'Dasavatharam' features Kamal Haasan in ten different roles with Asin playing the female lead in a dual role.

Mallika Sherawat dons and entirely different cap in this movie playing the role of a CIA agent while Jayapradha has another important role.

Himesh Reshammiya has composed musicforthe film marking his debut in Tamil Films. The audio launch is likely in the first week of March.

Sony set to capture 30pc of LCD biz by 2008

New Delhi, Nov 20: Sony India expects to capture a 30 per cent market share by next year with its new LCD range, Bravia. ''We aim to capture a 25 per cent market share in terms of units and 30 per cent in terms of revenue of the LCD segment. The current market is of about 4,00,000 units,'' Sony India Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa told UNI.....
