Moscow, Feb 21 (UNI) Russia today said it was closely watching the developments in Pakistan, following the February 18 Parliamentary Election.
It expressed hope that the political forces that gained a majority in Parliament would be able to form a coalition.
''We hope the political forces that gained a majority in Parliament will reach an agreement to form a broad coalition,'' official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement.
''Russia is closely watching the developments in Pakistan, following the February 18 Parliamentary Election,'' he added.
''We hope the new government will be able to resolve tasks of vital importance - strengthening, and making more effective, the fight against Pakistan's main threat - terrorism - as well as creating the socio-economic conditions necessary to strengthen national security,'' Mr Kamynin stressed.
