Poultry depopulation work over in Assam and Bihar

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) The Bhopal-based High Security Animal Disease Laboratory has not reported any new sample from any part of the country, including West Bengal, testing positive for avian influenza.

Meanwhile, no unusual mortality was reported in West Bengal yesterday, an official release said here today.

The latest report from West Bengal shows that a total of 123 Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) (22 for surveillance/mopping and 101 for disinfection and sanitisation) were engaged in action.

No culling is being done from February 17. The cumulative culling of poultry birds is amounted to be 39.05 lakhs.

No egg and feed was destroyed yesterday. The cumulative figures of eggs and feed destroyed are 14,90,785 and 80,033 kg respectively.

The task of creating a five-km poultry depopulated zone in their border areas with West Bengal has been completed in Assam and Bihar.

While the culling work has been completed in Jamtara district of Jharkhand, it is in progress in Pakur district.
