Land lease cases: Ramoji Rao surrenders

Visakhapatnam, Feb 20: The leading Telugu daily Eenadu and ETV group Chairman surrendered in III-town police station, in a land lease related case, here today.

A cheating case was filed by M Varma for the land Ramoji Rao had taken from him in 1974 for a period of 33 years lease, which expired in 2007. According to city police Narishimarao a case was registered in 1984 following that the corporation had taken some portion of the land, to the tune of 500 sq yards, for widening the road.

Asst Superintendent of Police T K Rana said the police was conducting a routine check in the agency areas, a hub of business in precious stones. Two train accidents averted in AP

Tirupati, Jan 13: Two train accidents were averted in Andhra Pradesh with dutiful employees detecting cracks on the track. Railway sources said Rayalaseema Express was detained after a crack was detected on the track between Tirupati and Renugunta stations here today. Many other trains in the sector suffered detention. Similarly, the Secunderabad-bound Janmabhoomi Express suffered a detention after cracks developed on the track, near Pithapuram between Samalkot-Visakhapatnam section. According to a report from Hyderabad, several trains were delayed between Secunderabad-Vijayawada stations after.....

'We need pan political party commitment'

Visakhapatnam, Jan 6: Father of India's Green Revolution M S Swaminathan says he will sumbit his recommendations on nutrition security to all political parties for incorporating in their manifestoes for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. ''The National Coalition for Sustainable Nutrition Security in India, which I am heading, will come out with a draft manual containing several recommendations. We want to give it to all political parties before the next elections so that they can include them in their manifestoes, ''.....
