Bahadurgarh, Feb 21 (UNI) Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Ajay Chautala today said there was huge response to the proposed protest demonstration of February 26 at Parliament House, New Delhi and large number of people from the Haryana would participate the protest.
The protest march, being orgainsed to demand waiving off of all farmers loan in the country and remunerative prices for their farm produce, would be historic and would give a new direction to the national polity, he said addressing a press conference here.
Many UNPA leader and INLD President, Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala and all other UNPA leaders including former Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party chief Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr Chandra Babu Naidu, National Conference leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr Farookh Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Mr Babu Lal Marandi, General Secretary of Samajwadi Party Mr Amar Singh would participate in the protest march. He said that leaders from Leftist parties would also participate in the protest.
Mr Chautala said that UNPA would force the UPA government to accept the Swaminathan Commission Report which recommended that the minimum support prices should be fixed for ensuring a net income of 50 per cent over and above the production costs of different crops but the government was not coming forward to implement it .
Mr Chautala said that the policies of the government are anti-farmer and peasants were not getting the due prices for their produces.
"The farmers are being cheated as the prices are low, when farmer sell their produces but increases after they have sold to other middlemen", he said.
Congress government was importing wheat at the rate of Rupees 1,600 per quintal where as it was not ready to give local farmers Rupees 1,500 per quintal for the same wheat, he added.
