HC asks UDF constituents to file affidavits on hartal violence

Kochi, Feb 21 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the constituents of the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) to file affidavits over 'allegations of wide spread violence' during the hartal on February 19.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K M Joseph asked the Congress, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Communist Marxist Party (CMP) and Kerala Congress (M) to file affidavits on a petition filed by the 'Anti-hartal campaign committee.

The UDF had called for a hartal against the price-hike of essential commodities.

The Court also ordered notice to UDF Convener P P Thankachan directing to implead in the petition.

Bar time extension to bring Haryana on par with Delhi: Min

Night temperatures increase in Northwest

New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) Night temperatures registered a sharp increase in the northwest region today, providing respite from a prolonged spell of cold. The mercury increased in Punjab with Adampur, near Jalandhar, recording the minimum temperature at 7.6 degrees as against yesterday's 5.2 degrees, followed by Amritsar recording 8.0 Ludhiana 8.1 and Patiala 9.5 degrees.
