Good Earth Super Series tennis grand finale from Feb 26

Mumbai, Feb 21 (UNI) The Good Earth Super Series Finale starts here at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) courts from February 26 to 29.

Organised by Havas Sports, this five city tournament (Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai) has successfully reached its Grand Finale. The grand prize for the winners includes a fully sponsored three-week tennis training program in France followed by tournaments in their respective age groups across Europe, a media release issued here today stated.

Supported by Vijay Amritraj, this series aims to promote young talent below the age of 16 and groom them to be competitive at an international level at a young age. This series is set amidst plenty of on-ground activities designed to create awareness around tennis as a sport, the need for health and fitness including the importance of a healthy, nutritious and well balanced diet.

To qualify for the finale, players from all over India have participated in a minimum of three out of five tournaments that are a part of this series. Akin to the ''ATP Master's'', the Grand Finale will have the top eight players from each age group compete for the ultimate honor of becoming the Good Earth Super Series Champion 2008, the release added.

Patiala, Feb 21 (UNI) Unheralded armyman Basant Bahadur set a new National record in the men's 50 km walk in the Ist Indian Athletic Grand Prix here today. Bahadur finished the event in 4::10:42, bettering Gurdev Singh's (4::16:22) three year old record by six minutes. National Cricket Championship for disabled kees off

Lucknow, Feb 21 (UNI) The third National Cricket Championship for the disabled was inaugurated at the KD Singh Babu Stadium with fanfare here today. The three-day national championship is being organised jointly by Indian Cricket Federation for the Disabled (ICFD) and Mobility India, in which 18 teams from different states are taking part.
