COG demands immediate launch of Govt Cable Corporation

Madurai, Feb 21 (UNI) The Cable Operator's Guild (COG) today urged the Tamil Nadu Government to launch Arasu Cable TV Corporation without any further delay.

In a statement here, COG President A Pandi said the government had announced in September last year that it would be launched by January. However, it was postponed to 'Tamil New Year' and again deferred to June, causing confusion among the public and Cable TV operators.

''The government should launch the Corporation without any further delay, as new Multi-System Operators (MSO) are rapidly increasing in the state,'' he demanded.

He said the 'Hathway' company was forcing the cable operators to take connections from its MSO at present, which was done by another 'company' in the past. He urged the Union Telecommunication Ministry and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to take action against the MSO's, who were causing nuisance to the public and cable operators.

Mr Pandi appealed to the government for cable connections at cheapest rates. ''The government should take action against the MSO's that do not follow the guidelines levied by the TRAI,'' he added.
