CBI registers case against passport office Superintendent

Visakhapatnam, Feb 21 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials have registered a case against regional passport office Superintendent J Aalivelu here today.

CBI Superintendent of police C Eeswar Murthy in a release here tonight said Alivelu demanded a bribe of Rs 4,500 from the complainant Shankar Rao for stamping Emigration Clearance Not Required (ECNR) on his passport.

Mrs Alivelu entrusted the work to a private person G Achary and when he was taking the amount from the Mr Rao the CBI officials caught him red-handed and recovered the amount from the accused.

An investigation was on, the release added.

MIC wants Sedition Act on writer for terming Malay Indians 'immigrants'
