BSP demands resignation of Minister Valsaraj

Puducherry, Feb 21: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today demanded resignation of Puducherry Health Minister E Valsaraj in the wake of vigilance inquiry against him in connection with the alleged corruption in land deal for Mahe Institute of Information Technology.

Adressing a press conference here, BSP State President Thanga Kalaimaran wondered why the government had failed to initiate action against the Minister even after the court directed the Chief Vigilance Officer to conduct an inquiry into the deal.

Demanding a Central Vigilance inquiry into the deal, Mr Kalaimaran alleged that the state vigilance would act in favour of Mr Valsaraj. He said the BSP would launch agitations, if the Minister failed to tender his resignation. Meanwhile, the BJP also demanded the resignation of Mr Valsaraj.

BJP State President M Visweswaran told a press conference that it would be better if Mr Valsaraj resigned and faced the trial.

The Chief Minister should remove him from the Cabinet, if he refused to resign, he added.
