250 gm contraband siezed; three arrested

Patna, Feb 21 (UNI) Three members of a suspected international gang of drug peddlers were arrested and about 250 gm of heroin was seized here from them, police said today.

Patna Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Singh told UNI acting on a tip-off, a special team raided a house near the Rajendra Nagar railway bridge at Kadamkuan, in the heart of the city, and arrested three alleged peddlers yesterday.

Besides, contraband worth Rs 2.5 million in the international market, was also recovered from them.

While two of the arrested hailed from Ranchi and Nalanda, the other was a city dweller, Mr Singh said, adding the accused were produced before a local court.

Mr Singh said an investigation was on to find out their relations with any international gang of drug dealers.

2 Haryana Police personnel arrested in rape charge

Jammu, Feb 21: A civilian was shot at by unidentified militants in Tehsil Mendhar of Poonch district last evening, official sources said here today. The sources said a few unidentified militants shot at and injured Sikander Hayat, at his house in Sakhi Maidan.
