Patna, Feb 19 (UNI) A two-day seminar on ''Bhojpuri cinema in comparative perspectives'', organised by Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) in collaboration with Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai, concluded here today.
Delivering the keynote address, Professor of History from Univerisity of California, USA, Vinay Lall drew an outline of this field that grew up in the late 70s in the US and came to India in the 80s.
Sharing his views on genres of Bhojpuri cinema in recent times, Mr Lall said it was similar to the one which was very popular in Hindi cinema in early 90s.
Also speaking on the occasion, Manas Ghosh from Department of Film Studies, Jadavpur University, gave a brief description of folk theatre. He also spoke on possible alternatives to dominant cinemas produced at the national level.
