Six held with Uranium worth Rs one crore,charged with sedition

Supaul, Feb 19 (UNI) Police today arrested six people for possessing huge amount of Uranium from near a bus-stand under Birpur police station in the district and charged with sedition.

Superintendent of Police Shyam Kumar told UNI here that acting on a tip-off police raided a hideout near the bus stand and arrested six people, including a soldier of 18th battalion of SSB, with eight pound of Uranium.

A case against all the arrested persons was registered charging them with sedition and violation of laws relating to prohibition of carriage and transportation of materials used for atomic enery.

The seized radio active metal is valued worth Rs one crore in the international market, Mr Kumar said adding that investigation was on.

Poultry deaths in MP

Tikamgarh, MP, Feb 19 (UNI) Hundreds of birds died over a week at about 40 poultry farms in this district's Berbar village where a Veterinary Department team was sent today. ''Samples will be sent to Bhopal,'' said Dr B B Tripathi, posted in Jatar tahsil. Jatara's Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dileep Mandavi said that the district administration had been alerted. MP seeks central assistance of Rs 1,548 cr

Bhopal, Feb 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has sought central assistance of Rs 1,548.91 crore for drought relief. A memorandum in this regard was presented, at a meeting with state government officers here today, to a central team -- led by Joint Secretary (Agriculture) S L Patnayak -- that arrived here to assess the drought situation, an official release said. As many as 37 of 48 districts were reeling under drought, the release added. UNI.....

Uproot BJP from MP: Pachouri

Hoshangabad, MP, Feb 19 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee's newly-appointed president Suresh Pachouri today gone a clarion call to party workers to uproot the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime from the state. While addressing a public meeting here prior to a Janakrosh rally, Mr Pachouri slammed the state government's alleged oppression, corruption and anti-people policies. This was Mr Pachouri's first such meeting after assuming his post. ''The Congress is united and the opposition parties.....
