Policewoman arrested while accpeting bribe

Tiruvallur, Feb 19: A woman Sub-Inspector of Police was caught red-handed by sleuths of the Vigilance-Anti-Corruption, Kancheepuram wing while accepting a bribe last night.

According to police, the SI R Gomathy, attached to the Thiruvallangattu Police Station in Tiruvallur district, was trapped by the officials when she accepted a token bribe of Rs 10,000 from Damodaran Reddy, father of 20-year-old Bhagyalakshi at her police quarters.

The trap was laid after Damodaran informed the officials that the policewoman had treatened to initiate action against him if he failed to give Rs 50,000 as bribe following a complaint lodged by her daughter Bhagyalakshmi stating that her parents were against her affair with one Guru of Chennai, whom she loved, police added.
