Lufthansa to connect Mumbai-Munich with 3 direct weekly flight

Mumbai, Feb 19 (UNI) Premier German air carrier Lufthansa Airlines today announced the launch of three new non-stop flights between Mumbai and Munich from May 4 onwards.

With the introduction of the proposed service, the Airline will become the first and the only airline operating between Mumbai and Munich with three flights weekly.

Alongside, the Airline will also launch two additional flights between Kolkata and Frankfurt from June 3, a company statement stated.

Operated with an Airbus A340-300, the flights will complement Lufthansa's existing daily service between Mumbai and Frankfurt.

Convenient connections to onward destinations in Europe, US and Canada will be synchronised from Munich to provide passengers from India with seamless travel, the release said.

In addition to this, the Airlines will also boost the current services between Kolkata and Frankfurt from three to five flights a week, June 3 onwards by adding flights on Wednesday and Sunday.

''India is increasingly gaining importance as a strategic growth market. That is why, the Airline has steadily expanded its flight services to the country in recent years. The enhanced network will offer greater flexibility and choice to our customers as well as reinforce our position as the European market leader,'' the Airline Director South Asia Werner Heesen said in the release.

With the addition of these flights, the Airline will offer 50 flights per week from India via six gateways, enhancing flight connectivity for passengers. With its partner SWISS, the Airline will offer 64 flights a week from India to Europe via its three hubs; Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.

Special fares for flights to the US are currently available for travel, until June 30 this year. While, fares from Mumbai start Rs 33,000 onwards, from Kolkata they start at Rs 35,000 for flights, subject to availability.
