LJP seeks dismissal of Mayawati govt, Prez rule in UP

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today demanded immediate dismissal of the ten-month-old BSP government in Uttar Pradesh and imposition of President's rule there to free the people of the state from the ''terror of Mayawati's terrorists''.

The LJP also sought a CBI probe into the murder case of three transporters from the Kasna Industrial area of Noida, and threatened that if its demands were not met within 15 days, the party would launch a nationwide agitation.

Several LJP activists, led by Delhi unit president Dilip Balmiki, staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here to seek the dismisal of the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh.

Carrying placards, banners and party flags, the activists chanted slogans ''down with Mayawati, down with Mayawati government, Mayawati is the murderer of dalits and minorities and Mayawati is corrupt''.

The activists demanded immediate dismissal of the Mayawati government and imposition of President's rule in the state.

They also demanded arrest of Ravindra Bhati, son of Uttar Pradesh Minister for Home Guards Ved Ram Bhati, for his alleged involvement in the murder of transporters -- Shahbuddin, Yousuf and Suresh -- at Noida on February 6.

The activists also sought Mr Bhati's immediate resignation from the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet.

The LJP later presented a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil.

''We seek your immediate intervention in saving the people of Uttar Pradesh. The law and order machinery has collapsed. Innocent people, especially members of the SC, ST and minority communities are being killed, terrorised and harassed. There is no rule of law of the land and people live in fear,'' the party urged Ms Patil.

It claimed that the people have lost total faith in the state government with corruption and nepotism touching peaks.

The LJP appealed to the President to take an immediate decision of dismissing the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh to free the people from the ''terror of terrorists of Mayawati''.

The party also demanded transfer of all cases of murders of members of SC, ST and minority communities committed during Ms Mayawati's regime to the CBI and called for measures to restore faith of the people in democracy.

The LJP threatened that if its demands were not met immediately, the party would be left with no other alternative, but to launch a nationwide agitation.

''If our demands are not met within 15 days, we will go on an indefinite hunger strike at Rajghat,'' Mr Balmiki threatened at the demonstration.
