Karishma Singh is 'Seventeen Cover Girl' for 2008

Mumbai, Feb 19 (UNI) Nineteen-year-old Karishma Singh from Bangalore was chosen as the ''Globus Seventeen Cover Girl'' for 2008 here today at the Taj Lands End.

The hunt for the cover girl concluded as the two judges, Bollywood actors Kunal Kapoor and Amrita Arora, crowned Karishma as the Cover Girl.

The panel of judges included supermodel Carol Gracias, leading celebrity and fashion photographer Jatin Kampani, beauty expert and owner of Butterfly Pond Agnes Chen, celebrity fitness guru Dianne Pandey and Editor of Seventeen India Superna Motwane.

The winner will be shot by talented photographer Ashima Mehra and will be featured on the cover of March 2008 issue of Seventeen India magazine.

Globus and Seventeen India invited entries from all over the country and the in-house judges narrowed down to ten finalists, who were flown down to the metropolis for the grand finale.

Seventeen Publisher Preeta Sukhtankar said, ''Every year we meet bright girls with promising futures, the competition seems to be getting tougher. What we are looking for is a confident thinking girl who carries herself well, is positive and ambitious and that is what Seventeen is all about.'' UNI LS NM SKB RAR RN1921

A fake call from India last weekend almost led to war with Pakistan
