Govt Med college at Mandi not feasible: Dhumal

Mandi, Feb 19 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, today categorically rejected the demand of BJP MLAs and oher party leaders of this district for opening Government Medical Colleage at Mandi, the central zone of the state in view of the ongoing financial crisis.

Addressing party leaders, MLAs and workers at Vipasa Sadan at a ''Gratitude Expression'' function Mr Dhumal said it was not feasible to setup a Governmet Medical College at Mandi as it would require investment of Rs 100 crore.

He said the state was reeling under acute financial crisis. The income of the state was mere Rs 3000 crore while the expenditure was as high as Rs 7000 crore and after implementing the recommendations of the coming wage board report the state expenditure would likely to escalate to Rs 85000 crore.

The Chief Minister said the BJP government would open four or five more private medical colleges in the state in its endeavour to make the state an educational hub.
