Fujitsu first world player to bring 3.5G tech to India

Bangalore, Feb 19 (UNI) Fujitsu, the world's third largest IT and computer solution player, has brought to India for the first time the 3.5G enabled ultra portable Lap top computers in the price range of Rs 30,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh.

Showcasing the new range of 'Made in Japan' mobile computing companions, Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific Associate Director Ivan Kam said his company was the third largest provider of IT solutions in the world behind IBM and EDS and was a market leader in Japan.

"Our PCs, made in our units in Japan and Germany, ensures highest product quality. We want to take about 10 per cent of the market share in India within two years," he added.

The company had released four new models in the Indian market -- S-6510, the flag ship model ranging from Rs 1.2 to Rs 1.5 lakh; Enterprise favourite S-7211, ultra thin S-7230 and World's first A4 size tablet PC T-2010.

Fujitsu also showcased the palm sized U-1010 (3.5G), the world's smallest tablet-convertible ultra mini notebook weighting only 0.63 kg which carried a price tag ranging from Rs 60,000 to Rs 85,000.

The range includes high quality connectivity like WiFi, bluetooth and comes with camera attached. They had a longer battery life of 4.5 hours running battery time that could be upgraded to dual battery option that can run between 8.5 to 12.5 hours non-stop, Company Product Manager (India) Shailesh Sharma said.

Infosys to increase footprint in Japan, signs up with Nihon Unisys

Bangalore, Feb 19 (UNI) Eyeing non-US markets following the recent turbulence in the world's biggest economy, India's second largest software exporter Infosys Technologies today said that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan's Nihon Unisys for a marketing alliance. The two companies would leverage Infosys' global delivery model to market software solutions, product development and maintenance contracts. At present Japan market is dominated by Japanese IT majors like NTT Data, Fujitsu.....

Centre planning to provide Rs 15,000 as grant to farmers

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (UNI) The Centre is considering to provide a grant of Rs 15,000 to about 10.50 crore small and marginal farmers, saddled with debt amounting from Rs 60,000 crore to Rs 65,000 crore, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy informed the State Assembly today. During a debate on the motion of thanks for the Governor's address, the Chief Minister said this was likely to cost the national exchequer Rs 1,50,000 crore......

TN doubles subsidised cement allotment

Chennai, Feb 19 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today doubled the allotment of subsidised cement from 200 to 400 bags to middle class families who construct house measuring about 1,000 sq ft. In a bid to contain the rise in prices of cement, the state government was making available cement at Rs 200 per bag in the state Civil Supplies godowns, after an agreement with private cement manufacturers. The government initially alloted 100 bags of cement.....
