Former stars in action in south zone veterans tournament

Chennai, Feb 19 (UNI) Former Test and first class cricketers would be seen in action representing six states of Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Hyderabad, Andhra and Tamil Nadu, which would be vying for honours in the tenth inter-state south zone veterans cricket tournament to be held here from tomorrow to February 22.

Announcing this at a press conference here, former Kerala cricketer who is in charge of Veteran Cricketers Association said the teams have been divided into two groups of three sides each with Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra in one, and Goa, Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu in the other for the league cum knock out format.

While the league match would be played on 30 overs a side basis, the final would be 40 overs each.

The top two teams in each group would contest the final.

The winner's trophy would be in the memory of late Andhra cricketer Meher Baba, who was also South Zone coordinator of ' the Board for Veteran Cricketers in India (BVCI).
