Islamabad, Feb 19: Foreign observers, ambassadors and analysts have expressed satisfaction over the poll process in Pakistan. According to the Daily Times, observers said Pakistan's polling process is not too much different from other countries
US Senator John Kerry, who visited some polling stations in Islamabad and Lahore, hoped the elections would provide a new opportunity to restore democracy in Pakistan. Ambassadors of Canada and China said they too were satisfied with the polling process. Some foreign observers visited Peshawar on Monday, where they found most of the voters staying away from polling booths due to security concerns.
In Rawalpindi, observers from the US, Europe and other countries visited polling stations and talked with polling staff and polling agents. Some also viewed the poll process in Lahore. British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley visited polling stations in Islamabad.
A European Union observer mission visited polling stations in Chakwal and expressed satisfaction over security arrangements.
