BJD demands dissolution of Rourkela Municipal body

Rourkela, Feb 19 (UNI) The Rourkela district unit of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today demanded the dissolution of the Rourkela Municipal Council.

Addressing a series of street corner meetings in different parts of the town, Rourkela District BJD president Ananda Mohanty alleged large-scale corruption in the Council and demanded the government to dissolve it.

Mr Mohanty also urged the government to constitute a high power committee to inquire the corruption.

The party activists blocked the road near daily market for three hours, demanding repair of various roads in the Rourkela town.

They cleared the road after Rourkela Additional District Magistrate-cum-Municipal Executive Officer assured them of repairing the roads within a week.

The BJD leader said his party would resort to agaitation again if the authorities failed to repair the roads.

New Delhi, Dec 15: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will either reply or intervene in the discussion on the Indo-US civilian nuclear cooperation deal to be held in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.Most probably, the Prime Minister would intervene and not reply to the discussion, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi said here today, adding he would inform the Press about the actual position after Prime Minister's return from Japan tomorrow.He.....

Rajkot police take custody of Karan Jadeja

Rajkot, Aug 13: Karan Jadeja, the son of 'Godmother' Santokben Jadeja, the prime accused in the murder of Rekha Jadeja (32), daughter-in-law of Santokben Jadeja, was brought here today from Mumbai on transfer warrants.A team led by Police Inspector V V Gohil took possession of the accused from Mumbai police on Friday and brought him here today by road, Mr Gohil said.The accused will be produced before the local court here tomorrow and police will seek his remand.....
