Accord classical language status to Telugu: YSR

Hyderabad, Feb 19: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has urged the Union Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Ambika Soni to take steps to accord classical language status to Telugu.

According to an official release here yesterday, Dr Reddy spoke to the minister on phone and discussed the issue ahead of the high-level meeting scheduled to be held on the matter tomorrow in New Delhi.

The Chief Minister had already written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue on November 24, 2007, the release added.

New Delhi, Aug 23: The proposed revised draft visa agreement between India and Pakistan has provided for the use of Group Tourist Visa by tourists as well as pilgrims of the two countries, the Lok Sabha was informed today. The agreement is yet to be finalised by the Home Ministry, Tourism Minister Ambika Soni said in a written reply. 'Mud-pack treatment not harmful for Taj Mahal'

New Delhi, Nov 27: The government today denied that the experiment of applying mud-pack for cleaning of marble surface of the Taj Mahal had proved counter-productive without any significant results.
