Election campaign in Tripura generates business

Agartala, Feb 18, 2008 : Political parties in the northeastern state of Tripura are shelling out money on their respective election campaigns generating business for the locals engaged in the task of making flags, posters and flexes ahead of the state elections slated for February 23.

Apart from organizing big rallies and meetings, political parties are actively engaged in promoting their party ideology through banners, hoardings and posters.

Agartala, Jan 27: The Tripura Forward Bloc (FB) secretariat member Sudhir Chandra Majumdar has resigned from the party following a rift within the Left Front on seat sharing between FB and CPI(M) for the February 23 Assembly polls. Agartala, Jan 27: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has finalised the list of candidates for the Tripura Assembly elections, scheduled on February 23, and assured the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) that the list would be announced by tomorrow. TPCC leaders said here today that the announcement was delayed due to a standoff between the Congress and its allies and claimed that the Congress would come to power in the state this time. Saha unanimously elected Deputy Speaker in Tripura Assembly

Agartala, Mar 19: Newly elected CPI(M) Legislator Bhanu Lal Saha was today chosen as the Deputy Speaker in the 10th Tripura Legislative Assembly without any contest. Mr Saha was the Left Front nominee, however, there was no nominee from the Opposition and Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath announced Mr Saha unanimously elected to the post. Mr Saha won the election for the first time by defeating Tripura Congress president and former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman from Bishalgarh in West Tripura by 914.....
