Use scientific ways for mining: Koda

Ranchi, Feb 18 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today stressed on using scientific ways of mining for proper utilisation of iron ore in the state.

Speaking at the two-day national seminar on 'Beneficiation and Pelletisation of Iron Ore of Jharkhand', Mr Koda said maximum utilisation of iron ore was possible only through scientific mining as major part of the mineral remains unused.

''The state contains 37 per cent of the total iron ore reserves available in the country, but only high grade iron ore is being used by the industries,'' he said.

Technology should be developed to use low grade iron ore as it creates pollution, he added.

Salt Lake City, Jun 18: A convicted murderer, Ronnie Lee Gardner was executed by a firing squad on Friday, Jun 18 in Utah. He was the third person executed by firing in more than three decades. Gardner was strapped into a chair where a team of five marksmen aimed their guns at the white target pinned to his chest. Gardner was convicted of the murder of an attorney in 1985 while he was trying to flee a Utah.....

Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Mar 15: Nigerian militants today released two Italian oil workers they had been holding hostage in remote creeks in the oil-producing Niger Delta for more than three months.The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), which demands greater autonomy for Africa's top oil province, had seized the employees of oil company Saipem, a unit of ENI, in a raid on an oil export terminal on Dec 7.MEND, which emerged in late 2005 and forced the closure.....
