'Re-establishing the country is my sole desire', says Zardari

Islamabad, Feb 18 : Pakistan People's Party co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said on Sunday that if his party comes to power, he would bring along friends and foes together for re-establishing the country.

"I do not want to belittle my martyred wife's struggle by accusing any individual or group for her assassination. I ask all of you to get together for a change in the system, for national reconciliation. Revenge is not my motto," the Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying.

"We have reached at that point where, if we do not come together, we can lose Pakistan," he stressed.

Zardari said he would not compromise on his principles. He said millions of people would have died had he not acted soberly after the assassination of his wife, Benazir Bhutto.

"I see some forces that want to Balkanise our region. These forces will push in if democracy is eliminated and you and I would die. And that's what my martyred wife wrote in her last message that she feared for Pakistan's future," he said.

He was proud of his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's words that his mother always told him that democracy is the best revenge.
