Quack arrested with prohibited drugs

Jalandhar, Feb 18 (UNI) Police today arrested a quack and seized prohibited drugs from his clinic being run at village Raiwala Donna under Shahkot Police Station in the district.

Police said that a police team, along with a drug inspector and a doctor from civil hospital, raided the clinic being run by one Balraj Kumar of village Haveli Patta and siezed prohibited drugs only to be administered under medical prescription.

Police said that Balraj was neither a qualified doctor nor possessed any license to run the clinic.

A case under sections 420 of IPC, 22-61-85 of NDPS Act and 15 of Indian Medical Council Act was registered against the accused, police said.

Pondicherry, May 8: An estimated 70 percent of the 6.13 lakh voters exercised their franchise by 1600 hrs in the second and final phase of polling to the territorial assembly today.As many as 21 constituencies in Pondicherry and six in Karaikal region went to polls in the second and final phase.Polling was peaceful with no untoward incidents reported from any region.Mahe, Palloor and Yanam constituencies went to poll in the first phase on May 3......

Rae Bareli, May 8: Nearly 42.6 per cent of the voters today exercised their franchise in the byelection for the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat, for which Congress President Sonia Gandhi is seeking re-election.Polling in the high-profile constituency, which began on a brisk note in the morning, however, lost steam by afternoon.The Election Commission had increased the poll timings by an hour.The poll turnout was less than the 2004 general elections when Ms Gandhi was elected.....
