Missing fishermen traced, brought to shore

Rameswaram, Feb 18 (UNI) Four missing Indian fishermen were traced near the Katchatheevu island and brought to the coast today.

Official sources told UNI that Lawrence, Anthony Siluvai, Susai Viyakulan and Rockpeller, who ventured into the sea on Saturday for fishing in a registered mechanised fishing boat failed to reach the shores yesterday morning, causing anxious moments to their family members and the fishing folk.

A massive search operation was carried out by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and local fishermen, since last evening.

The fishermen were traced near the Katchatheevu island by a local fishermen during the search operation. All the four were stranded in the mid-sea due to a technical snag in the vessel.

On information, a rescue boat, sent to the mid-sea, towed the boat and brought it to the coast here this evening, the sources added.
