Mercury rises to 9.8 degree C in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) Continuing its upward movement since the weekend, the mercury in the national capital today rose to 9.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the Met office, the minimum temperature was normal for this time of the year, thus maintaining the relief from the severe chill of the past two weeks.

A slight mist was witnessed in the morning. The visibility levels, however, remained near normal at 500m.

The Met office have forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with a slight mist in the morning hours.

World's forests disappearing but at slower rate

Rome, Mar 14:  An area of forest twice the size of Paris disappears every day although the rate of global deforestation has started to slow, according to a United Nations report issued.''Deforestation continues and it continues at an unacceptable rate, however there are signs of potential change,'' said Wulf Killmann, a forestry expert at the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) which published the report yesterday.The destruction of forests not only reduces habitat available for wildlife but also adds to the greenhouse.....
